Are you aware that in January every year, hundreds even millions of folks all around the globe invest an average of 24 hours thinking about, writing down and sharing their New Year’s Resolutions and goals for the year?
New starts, new plans for getting things started with a totally clean slate. At this time of the year your life seems to start feeling promising once more. You promise yourself you'll make goals and do better in one or more key areas of your life such as health and fitness, finances, relationships, spirituality and faith, work and career etc.
For maybe three to four weeks yu feel utterly positive and optimistic about a super successful year ahead of you. It's full of exciting new outcomes and results. You start this journey on the right foot and are truly energized, inspired and laser focused.
That's until you don’t.
Until you fall off the wagon and realize that everything is turning out to be "...the same ol’ crap!"
From my own previous struggles and experience of working with literally thousands of people on personal transformation here are the things most people encounter. Do you relate to any of them?
- Constant struggle around actually sitting down and DOING things
- A nagging resistance around changing your non-productive habits and sticking to them
- Crippling fears around performing the most important tasks
So what tends to happen as a result is that you start hiding behind the idea of your "limited capabilities." You think you can’t do it. You get distracted by the seemingly ever-growing list of what you've to do right now to make get better and improve yourself in the areas that really matter to you. Deep inside you're feeling frustrated that you can’t find time to focus on your new goals and…and eventually, slowly buy surely you start to feel like a failure.
And as we’re entering and going through a new month this year, THIS is the time when people start losing momentum. Your resolution starts to melt. Your resistance starts showing up. The planned journey in the direction of your dreams becomes incredibly challenging. For many people, sadly it becomes impossible.
Here's the Good News
Here’s the good news.
It’s not your fault.
Truth be told, a New Year’s resolution won't change your life. Why? Because, well, frankly…they don’t work!
"The great majority of people who set resolutions for themselves
studies show that a whopping 92%, fail to achieve them"
OUCH! Those are truly scary statistics!
However, if you happen to be in the same boat, you shouldn't beat yourself up about it. It’s normal to kickoff a year with high hopes, only to see your motivation and inspiration gradually fade over time.
So, you must be wondering about people who actually kick-start their new year with a positive note and seem to absolutely CRUSH it with their actions.
How do they do that?
How do they become such a powerhouse of total AWESOMENESS?
The truth is that people who seem to be insanely dedicated to their success in comparison to other folks don’t make New Year resolutions. What they do instead is set SMART goals and intentions and accomplish them in an effective way.
And you can do that too.
I believe in you...you're right here right now and that means something!
